Odoo vs QuickBooks Online for Philippine businesses: a fair comparison (2026)

QuickBooks Online often suits a small service business that only needs bookkeeping and has an outside bookkeeper. Odoo usually fits better once you need BIR lists, stock, branches, a POS or payroll in one system. Here is how the two compare on what Philippine companies actually file and run, using each vendor's own published material.

Key takeaways

  • QuickBooks Online is cloud accounting software for small businesses. Its Philippine site describes VAT tracking, inventory on the Plus and Advanced plans, hundreds of app integrations and plans from 1 to 25 users.
  • Odoo is a suite of business apps, with Accounting as one of them. Its Philippine localisation in Odoo 19 documents the 2550Q, SLSP, SAWT and QAP reports and a 2307 export, and Odoo 20 adds PDF 2306 and 2307 certificates and a basic Philippine payroll package.
  • QuickBooks' Philippine pages we checked do not mention BIR forms or withholding tax. Ask Intuit or a local add-on provider how you would produce the 2307, SLSP, SAWT and QAP.
  • Under the BIR's CAS rules, each business registers its own system with its RDO or Large Taxpayers office. Your accountant or RDO confirms what your registration needs.

"Odoo or QuickBooks?" is a common question from Philippine business owners. Both are used here, and both are sound products. They are built for different jobs. QuickBooks Online is accounting software. Odoo is an ERP, where accounting is one app beside sales, stock, purchasing, POS and payroll. So the useful question is not which one is better. It is which one matches what your business files and runs every month. This guide compares them on that basis, using Intuit's Philippine pages and Odoo's own documentation, all read on 24 October 2026.

"Not mentioned" means the Intuit pages we read do not describe it. It does not mean QuickBooks cannot do it through an add-on or a workaround. Ask before you decide.

BIR reports: the biggest practical difference

Every VAT-registered business files the quarterly 2550Q. Many also issue 2307 certificates, and submit SLSP, SAWT and QAP data. The question is how much of that comes from the system and how much is rebuilt in spreadsheets at quarter-end.

QuickBooks Online. Intuit's Philippine accounting page describes VAT tracking and sorting income and expenses into tax categories before you file. The Philippine pages we checked do not name the BIR, Form 2307, the 2550Q, or the SLSP, SAWT and QAP lists. Check whether QuickBooks, or an add-on from its app marketplace, produces these in the format you file.

Odoo. The Odoo 19 Philippine localisation documents each output:

  • 2550Q: a 2550Q (PH) report under Accounting > Reporting > Tax Report, summarising sales, purchases, output and input VAT. See our 2550Q guide.
  • 2307: select vendor bills under Accounting > Vendors > Bills, then Actions > Download BIR 2307 XLS. Odoo 19 does not create the PDF itself. Odoo 20's release notes add official PDF 2306 and 2307 certificates. See our 2307 guide.
  • SLSP: Summary Lists of Sales and Purchases under Accounting > Reporting, with a DAT export for the ReLiEf module. See our SLSP guide.
  • SAWT and QAP: a SAWT & QAP (PH) report with DAT exports for the Alpha module. See our SAWT and QAP guide.

Odoo 20's release notes also add a Book of Accounts for CAS and CBA users, and a 2551Q report for non-VAT companies. Our guide to books of accounts explains the manual, loose-leaf and computerised options.

Odoo prepares these figures from your posted entries. You still review them and file on the BIR's platforms. Odoo does not file for you.

VAT and withholding set-up

Philippine invoices and bills often carry both VAT and withholding tax. A supplier bill may carry 12% input VAT and, if you are a top withholding agent paying for services, 2% expanded withholding (ATC WC160 for a corporate supplier) on the same line. Your software needs both, and each withholding tax needs its ATC code for the BIR lists.

In Odoo 19, the localisation ships default VAT taxes plus expanded, final and VAT withholding taxes. The ATC code sits in the Philippines ATC field on each tax, under Accounting > Configuration > Taxes. Company records hold your TIN, branch code and RDO code, and contacts hold each partner's TIN. Our guide to expanded withholding tax and ATC codes goes further.

For QuickBooks Online, check how withholding taxes and ATC codes are set up, and whether they flow into the reports you file.

Inventory, warehouses and POS

QuickBooks Online's Philippine pages describe inventory that updates as items sell and arrive, with low stock alerts. The pricing page lists inventory on the Plus and Advanced plans. They do not mention a point of sale, so check whether a POS app connects to it.

Odoo's Inventory app starts with one warehouse. You can add more under Inventory > Configuration > Warehouses and move stock between them. Odoo's Point of Sale is a separate app for shops and restaurants. It runs in a web browser and is built to keep working during temporary network outages. Odoo's Accounting documentation says Odoo automatically creates the journal entries for point-of-sale orders and inventory valuations, so these do not need to be keyed in twice.

Branches and several companies

Many Philippine groups run more than one branch, or more than one company. In Odoo, several companies can share one database, with some records shared and others kept separate. Invoices and bills belong to one company. An inter-company feature can create the matching vendor bill in the other company when one company posts an invoice to it. Odoo's documentation notes that enabling multi-company on a Standard plan moves you to the Custom plan. For branch codes and branch reporting, read our multi-branch guide.

The QuickBooks Philippine pages we checked do not describe several companies under one subscription. The Plus and Advanced plans list classes and locations for tracking. Ask Intuit how branches and separate companies would work for you.

Payroll, CRM and sales in one system

QuickBooks' Philippine home page says it keeps payroll, time and accounting in sync. If you plan to run payroll in it, check that it covers SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and the BIR's payroll forms.

Odoo 20's release notes describe a basic Philippine payroll package with mandatory calculations, Form 1601-C items, the yearly 2316, and 1604-C worksheets with alphalist DAT exports. Odoo 19's payroll localisation list does not include the Philippines, so the payroll points here are for Odoo 20. Read our Philippine payroll guide. CRM, Sales, Purchase and Manufacturing are also Odoo apps.

Users, support and partners

QuickBooks Online plans have fixed user limits: 1 on Simple Start, 3 on Essentials, 5 on Plus and 25 on Advanced. Every plan lets you invite your accountant or bookkeeper. Intuit lists phone support for the Philippines from Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and a ProAdvisor portal for accountants.

Odoo can be set up with an Odoo partner. TechNext is an Odoo Ready Partner in Singapore with a team in Taguig City. We configure the Philippine localisation, taxes, ATC codes and reports with you.

When QuickBooks is the better fit

  • You are a small service business with no stock, no POS and one company.
  • An outside bookkeeper already uses QuickBooks and handles your BIR lists.
  • You mainly need invoicing, expenses and reports, for a few users.
  • You prefer to start quickly and connect apps as you need them.

When Odoo is the better fit

  • You want the 2550Q, 2307, SLSP, SAWT and QAP to come from documented reports in your system.
  • You carry stock, run more than one warehouse, or sell over the counter.
  • You have branches or several companies and want them in one database.
  • You want sales, CRM, purchasing, payroll and accounting in one system.
  • You expect your team to grow past a small fixed number of users.

Odoo is a paid subscription, and setting it up well takes work. If your needs are simple, that may not be worth it yet. If you already feel the strain, read the signs you have outgrown spreadsheets.

Common questions

Is Odoo or QuickBooks better for a Philippine small business?

It depends on what you run. A small service firm with an outside bookkeeper may be well served by QuickBooks Online. A business with stock, branches, a POS or payroll usually gets more from Odoo, where these run as apps beside Accounting.

Does QuickBooks Online produce BIR Form 2307 or the SLSP?

Intuit's Philippine pages we checked do not mention these forms. Ask Intuit, or a local add-on provider, how you would produce the 2307, SLSP, SAWT and QAP in the format you file.

Does the BIR endorse Odoo or QuickBooks?

The BIR's guidance we read does not name either brand. Under RMC 5-2021 and RMO 9-2021, each taxpayer registers its own computerised system, including third-party software, with the RDO or Large Taxpayers office where its head office is registered, which issues an Acknowledgement Certificate. Your accountant or RDO confirms what your registration needs.

How many users can I have?

QuickBooks Online plans include 1, 3, 5 or 25 users, depending on the plan. Odoo subscriptions are priced per user, and Odoo's pricing page sets no fixed user limit on the Standard or Custom plans.

Can I move from QuickBooks to Odoo later?

Yes. Plan the cut-over at a period end with your accountant. A new system needs its own CAS or CBA registration with the BIR before you use it, so check the steps with your RDO.
